5 Steps to Retake Control
Aug 08, 2022This week I wanted to share a post I made in a Facebook group of mine. I know business, especially as a solopreneur, can feel overwhelming. Many of my clients, and myself go through waves of struggling with this concept so I felt it necessary to share some strategies I use personally.
Recently there’s been more and more discussion around feelings of anxiety, impatience, and frustration within business and our respective journeys. What I think this comes down to is managing your expectations, which by the way does not mean lowering your standards... it simply means understanding the context of your environment and asking the question: Does it match reality?
By zooming out a bit we can have a better perspective and that can equate to some proverbial peace. Here's what I've come up with:
- Understand your capacity and its implications: If you are maxed out for what you have energy for, acquisition is NOT your problem. If you are not hitting your financial goals, is that because your current capacity doesn't allow it? This can be a massive breakthrough.
- Control and shape your schedule to match your needs. This includes when you want your day to start and end. Struggling to work on your business? You need to schedule time for that. I separate my "on the biz" days from "in the biz" days.
- Schedule every task that matters. Even those that are not business related. Physical or mental health suffering? Put your workout, meditation, walk, therapy, whatever it is on your schedule and stick to it.
- Schedule time to THINK! Yes, just to think. 60 min to start then build to 90. This is GOLD if you struggle to fall asleep at night. My think-time starts my week off and sets me up for success.
- Commit to your plan. We overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can do in a year. This shit takes time! You have to keep consistent so the pay-off can actually hit!
I hope this was helpful and if you have any questions or feel stuck, don't hesitate to reach out!
