How I Used Social Media to Grow My Business WITHOUT Posting!

You might think social media is all about posting content online to attract your audience, grow your account, and become the next fitspo influencer (kidding). But the reality is social media can be a helpful tool in your business when you use it in ways other than just posting content.

Remember, at its core, social media is a connection platform. It says it right in the name “social.”

Now, most people tend to just lurk and consume, and while this can be useful to warm them up to what you do, I tend to see many in-person business owners poorly using the most powerful tool that platforms have to offer: Messaging.

When I was growing my cash PT clinic, this was my number one way to connect with people in my local community.

I made it part of my weekly routine to drop in to at least one if not two, gyms routinely per week. That meant that in each class I went to, I was interacting with 4-20 people I had either never met before or, in some cases, had trained with semi-regularly.

Now, it would be odd to go around and ask every single person in the class for their name and email so I could add them to my list and consistently market to them…

But, with the power of Instagram, it was really easy to find them on social media, often just filtering a search through the gym's followers, shooting them a follow, then a dm letting them know it was great meeting them and working out with them in class that day.

I don’t know about you, but typically, when I get a new follower, I check out their social media account, see what they do, and if there’s any synergistic way to connect, so in many instances, these people will likely do something similar which will lead them to follow you back, especially since there was a REAL in-person connection.

Many of them actually kept the conversations going in the DMs and often asked about the services I could provide or offers that I had going on - bonus points if you talked to them about a specific issue they were dealing with in class - and this would result in eventual clients.

This connection process is so simple, yet so many people are sleeping on it.

Remember, you have access to conversations and opportunities every single day.

But building a business doesn’t rely on seeing opportunities. It relies on acting upon them.

Now, you have an easy formula to take action, start convos, and begin building your social network without posting ANY content.
